Based in Miami, USA, Antonia and Jacob chose Villa Aurelia in Rome for their destination wedding — a place that brought together historic interiors, beautiful gardens and views over the city.
The forecast was uncertain from the beginning. There was a real threat of rain throughout the day, which made everyone keep one eye on the sky, but in the end the rain never came. Instead, the clouds softened the light and gave the wedding a calm, elegant mood.
The early afternoon started inside the villa, with quiet preparations, natural window light and the anticipation that always makes this part of the day so meaningful. Later, the ceremony took place in the garden, surrounded by greenery, flowers and the view over Rome.
After the ceremony, we used the villa’s arches and gardens for portraits that felt elegant but relaxed, without turning the day into a photoshoot. The evening continued outdoors, with dinner in front of the villa, delicate florals and a warm Roman atmosphere.
As night arrived, the mood changed completely. The calm elegance of the day gave way to a lively party, full of movement, flash, laughter and completely unscripted moments — the perfect ending to a wedding that felt refined, personal and very real.
As my work continues to take me to more destination weddings across Europe and beyond, what remains most important is not the distance travelled, but the ability to understand each place and photograph the day with the same sense of honesty, elegance and attention.
